Stones and Bones

By in Products

In 2011, the Grand Prix Design Parade (Ville Noailles – Hyères) was awarded ex-aequo to Jean-Baptiste Fastrez and Brynjar Sigurðarson. These two designers created three projects, both collaborating with the Festival’s partners (Sèvres – cité de la céramique, CIRVA, Galerie Kreo) whilst at the same time undertaking personal projects. The work they are exhibiting this summer is the product of the past year, since winning Design Parade.

Grigris “Roly-poly” figures, These gris- gris, or talismans, from Sèvres, offer an opportunity to play with porcelain’s fragility and weightlessness. Miniature vases carefully hand thrown and decorated, then mounted upon solid metal hemispheres.

Miroirs These mirrors employ a plastic, within the creation of their frames, which is normally used for making the frames for spectacles. This bulk- stained plastic imitates horn or tortoiseshell. Appropriated and thus re-employed for a large object, it surprises as a result of its equally organic and totally synthetic appearance. A project created for Kreo Gallery.
